Top 5 Engineering Universities in Belgium: Fees, Requirements, and Admission Guide

Are you dreaming of studying engineering in the heart of Europe in 2025 or 2026? Belgium, known for its innovation, multilingual culture, and strong academic traditions, is home to some of the best engineering universities in Europe that not only offer an engineering degree but also allow you to develop your career in Belgium after completing your studies, which we discuss at the end of this blog. Whether you’re an EU or non-EU student, Belgium offers affordable tuition fees, world-class professors, and degrees that are globally recognized.

In this post, we’ll walk you through the top 5 engineering universities in Belgium for 2026, including their fees, admission requirements, and program highlights.

1. KU Leuven

KU Leuven consistently ranks among Europe’s top universities, so that’s why we put it at the top of our list. The university is powerful in engineering technology, with programs designed to blend theory and hands-on experience, which you can utilize in your professional career, of course.

Tuition Fees

We divided the fee into two categories: EU and non-EU.

EU students: For EU students, it’s comparatively cheaper; I mean, the fee is around €1200/year

Non-EU students: Although it’s between €6,000 and €9,000/year, depending on the program

Requirements

  • High school diploma (for bachelor’s programs) with a solid background in mathematics and sciences
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (for master’s programs)
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent, which is of course 6.5 and 85)

Author note for you

Why did you choose this university? It’s at the top of our list because it offers you a variety of engineering courses at the master’s level, e.g., civil engineering, mechanical engineering, nanoscience engineering, mathematical engineering, and, of course, electrical engineering, and much more.

You can find many other courses in the engineering field if you want to study for a master’s. Although they offer bachelor’s degrees in engineering, they are limited. I mean only civil engineering and architecture, etc.

Key tip for you: you can apply through the Erasmus program as well, which is, of course, free of cost, and mostly their deadline is 15 February every year, and it will probably be 15 February 2026.

2. University of Antwerp

The University of Antwerp is known for its practical approach to engineering and close ties to industries. Programs like Electronics & ICT Engineering are highly popular among international students, and we have to let you know that this university was ranked 161 in the global ranking in 2024, and much more.

Tuition Fees

As usual, we divide the fee into two groups.

EU students: around €1,150/year, more or less.

Non-EU students: around €5,800/year (scholarships can reduce this to €3,100). If we make it easy for you, then consider this amount and then multiply it by the total credit hours per semester, as the per-credit fee is 345 euros.

Requirements

A relevant bachelor’s degree for master’s programs

Strong academic background in mathematics, ICT, or engineering

Proof of English proficiency, e.g., IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 80, but neither should be home-based or online tests. And they also accept Cambridge English as well, with a score of 176.

Author Note for you

The university offers scholarships and has an Erasmus program, so you can join this through the Erasmus program as well as get a full or partial scholarship. Another thing that attracts you more is that this university offers bioscience engineering and business and financial engineering, which are unique and attractive courses where you can participate and grow your career in that field. They have already started the classes; you can join this university in 2026, as the deadline for 2025 admission has already passed.

3. Ghent University

Ghent University (UGent) is one of Belgium’s largest universities, offering engineering degrees through its Faculty of Engineering & Architecture. The amazing thing that I share with you is that the university offers you a master’s degree in nuclear engineering, which is, of course, a highly demanding degree. Apart from that, they offer you a new degree in silicon photonics.

Tuition Fees

EU students: around €1,160/year for engineering, and per credit hour, it is around 315 euros for nuclear engineering, and if you want to know in total, then for 60 credit hours, it would be around 1,157 euros.

Non-EU students: around €4,500–€7,500/year, but not more than that; it could be 6,500 or less or a little more than that.

Requirements

  • Secondary school diploma (for bachelor entry) with a strong science/math background
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (for master’s)
  • GRE Quantitative may be required for some programs because, for an engineering degree, somehow you need to have the GREs.
  • Proof of English proficiency, e.g., IELTS 6 or TOEFL more than 74.

4. Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB)

ULB offers both bachelor’s and master’s programs in engineering, with instruction available in French and English. It’s a great choice if you want to study in a cosmopolitan city with global career opportunities.

Tuition Fees

EU students: about €835/year

Non-EU students: €2,500–€5,010/year. Although the university even divides countries into exempted and non-exempted countries, whether EU or non-EU, this is a standard fee. For more info, visit here.

Requirements

  • Recognized high school diploma (for bachelor’s)
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree (for master’s)
  • Proof of French or English proficiency, depending on the program. For English you have a minimum of 6.5 bands.

Author note for you

The university Université libre de Bruxelles offers only one degree in English for bachelor’s, but for master’s, you can have many options based on your previous degree, e.g., civil, electrical, chemical, material, and architecture degrees for master’s. Further, the university also offers exchange scholarships, international funding, and EMP programs for you, where you can find some reduction in fees as well. Last thing, their admission time period is around 1 April to 30 September 2025, which is almost finished, so you can consider next year, but some programs also have different deadlines.

5. UCLouvain

Université Catholique de Louvain is one of Belgium’s most respected institutions, offering engineering programs in the electrical, civil, mechanical, and bioengineering fields.

Tuition Fees

EU students: around €835/year

Non-EU students: the fee is around €4,175–€5,010/year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field (for master’s)
  • Strong foundation in math and science because for engineering courses, you need to have a strong math background, as they have entrance exams that you need to pass if you want to get admission to engineering courses, so be ready for the entrance exam. If you have a strong foundation, then of course you would not have a problem with the entrance exam at all.
  • Proof of English or French language proficiency because this university offers both courses in French and English. If you are French or know French, then UCLouvain is the best option for you; however, for IELTS, you need to have a standard 6.5 band.

Author note for you

The reason I chose this university for you is that this university offers a variety of courses for bachelor’s degrees. All the previous lists mostly offer you master’s degree programs in many areas, but the good thing with this university is that it offers a variety of courses for bachelor’s degrees as well. e.g., bachelor’s in business engineering, bioengineering, and architectural engineering. So you want to pursue your bachelor’s degree in Belgium in 2025-2026, then UCLouvain University is the best option for you to consider.
