University of Trento
The University of Trento is 3rd in our list, and we can say that it is also one of Europe’s best universities for computer science and research, and is known for small classes and strong industry links. When we talk about a small class in IT, then its mean they seats are limited.

Bachelor’s Degrees: Computer Science (Italian), just like the other above universities.
Master’s Degrees (English)

- EU students: €340 – €2,400 per year
- Non-EU students: €1,000 – €4,500 per year
If we have an average semester free for you, then you can consider between €170 – €2,250 around.
Author’s note about tuition fee
The best thing about University of Trento is that they offer you tuition fee based on score that you get I mean if you achieve 90 or more score then you will get scholarship I mean do not to pay fee etc. but if you score is less than 90 but more than 70 then still you only have to pay 1000 Euro which is not that high too. If it is less than 70 percent, then it will be around 3 thousand, and if you have less than 60 then it will be 6500 Euros. So I suggest you work on your application so that you can reach at least a 70 percent score, where you have to pay only 1000 Euro which is not that high for you as an international student to study IT in an Italian top university. If I tell you their standard maximum fee, then it is around 10 thousand, but this is for non-EU. However it course fee is already explained above. Remember that they have only 60 seats for the Master’s in IT courses. Read more about Admission and everything for Non-EU

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is Italy good for IT and Computer Science?
Yes. Italy offers low tuition, strong research, EU-recognized degrees, and growing tech opportunities, especially in AI, cybersecurity, and data science.
Can non-EU students study IT in Italy in English?
Yes. Most master’s IT programs are fully taught in English, but only the master’s program offered by the university in our above list.
What is the average cost of studying IT in Italy?
The average cost is between €1,000 and €4,000 per year, often much lower with scholarships if you get a scholarship that we mentioned above with every single university.
Are scholarships available for international students in Italian universities?
Yes. Italy offers some of the best public scholarships in Europe, which we can say, including tuition waivers and living support, e.g., Excellence scholarships, Regional DSU Lombardy funding, DSU Toscana scholarships, Provincial scholarships, Union Action, Italian Government Scholarships (MAECI, etc.).
Is IELTS mandatory for study in Italy?
For English-taught programs, yes, in most cases, unless your previous degree was fully in English, but for Non-EU students, you have to have ILETS exam.
Does Italy offer a bachelor’s in English?
Mostly, you would find courses in Italian if you want to study IT in a bachelor so it would be hard to find a bachelor’s program in English in Italy.
How to apply for a Master’s in Computer Science in Italy?
The process has two main steps. First, you have to apply directly to the university (usually via their online portal) between January and July for programs starting in September. Second, if admitted, you must complete a “pre-enrollment” on the Italian government’s Universitaly portal to start your student visa process.
Do I need CIMEA for Italian university admission?
Yes, almost certainly if you have non-Italian qualifications. CIMEA is the official Italian agency that evaluates foreign degrees. Universities usually require either a Statement of Comparability (verifying your degree’s level) or a Diploma Supplement (a detailed report). We suggest that you start this process early, as it can take time.
What are the entry requirements for an IT Bachelor’s in Italy?
For a Laurea Triennale (3-year Bachelor’s), you typically need: a high school diploma (12+ years of education), proof of Italian language proficiency (most Bachelor’s are in Italian, often B1/B2 level), and a passing score on the TOLC-I entrance test, which covers math, logic, and science. Remember that in Italy, almost all IT programs are taught in Italian. If your medium is English, then you can consider a master’s program.
What is the Cost of studying IT in Italy for international students?
Costs vary by university. Public universities charge tuition based on family income, ranging from about 900 to 4,000 euros per year. Living costs (rent, food, transport) add 500- 1,000 Euro per month, depending on the city (Milan is the most expensive). You can consider a scholarship if you avoid from hug cost that we already mentioned above for you.
What are the Deadlines for non-EU students to apply to Italian universities?
For programs starting in September (fall intake):
First calls: Often as early as January-February, which we already discussed above for you, as mostly program admission calls start from January every year. This is the main admission period and when most scholarships are decided.
Final calls: there is a second or final call we can say, which is until May-July, but applying in the first round is strongly advised for you as an international and Non-EU student.
Is IELTS required for English-taught programs in Italy?
Usually, yes. Most universities require an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher (or equivalent like TOEFL iBT 80+) to prove B2 level English. You may be exempt if your previous degree was taught entirely in English, but you need to submit official proof from your former university. Some less competitive universities also accept you with 6 bands, too, but in our above list, they mostly prefer 6.5 bands.
What are the Student visa requirements for Italy from India/other non-EU countries?
When you get admission in the university and complete pre-enrollment on Universitaly, you can apply to the Italian embassy in your country. If we talk about key documents, then they include the official “Nulla Osta” (pre-enrollment confirmation), proof of sufficient funds in your account (around €6,000 per year), health insurance, and your accommodation proof, etc.
What are the Best cities in Italy to study Information Technology?
I would say Milan, as Milan is the business/tech hub, home to Politecnico. You will find it best for industry connections and internships in your future, but you can consider Trento, Turin, Rome, or Naples, too.
