Poland residence card process and requirements

A Polish residence card or a temporary residence card is a very good option for you, whether you belong to an area without any professional background or hold some degrees and diplomas; meaning, if you are a plumber, machinist, or have any other technical experience, you can apply for this residence permit in Poland.

Professional vs Nonprofessional Individual

If you are a professional and you want to move to Poland, then you have to apply for an EU Blue Card, which gives you more rights and benefits than other forms of residency.

If you are nonprofessional, you can also get a TRC based on your job, whether you work in a factory, shop, restaurant, or any other odd job.

The author’s basic note regarding getting a visa

When you apply for residency, you have to get a job offer letter from your employer, and this applies to you whether you are a professional or a non-professional individual. In both cases, you need to have a work contract that fulfills the basic salary requirements of getting a visa or residency.

Author’s note regarding salary comparison

If you are an EU Blue Card applicant, you need a gross monthly salary of at least PLN 13,355.34, as your role is a highly skilled role and that offers you better mobility rights in the future as compared to standard residency, which ordinary workers have.

If I talk about the standard TRC and work permit, which requires you to have the national minimum wage, PLN 4,806 gross per month (PLN 31.40 per hour) as of January 2026.
The salary must appear in your employment contract and be paid in PLN through Polish payroll. Remember that the benefits do not count. This is based on our research, but I already recommend you verify current thresholds on official government sites before submitting your application.

Here, the question in your mind is that the key title of this blog is

How to get a Polish visa?

You can get a Polish visa in two ways.

  1. If you are a professional, especially an IT individual, and want to move to Poland, then you have to search for companies, e.g., IBM and Microsoft, as Microsoft’s main office is located in Warsaw, Poland, and Citibank, which offers many jobs to Asians, and many other top multinational offices are located in Poland, where they need skilled workers, especially those who belong to IT. So you can approach them via their website. You can even search through LinkedIn and find employers who are looking for international talent.
  2. The second option is for those who are not skilled workers but want to move to Poland in the future, so for them, they have to look for factories that are regularly looking for workers outside of Poland, e.g., meat factories and other production facilities in many cities like Radom, Gdansk, etc. You can approach them through their website, and you can search for third-party contractors or outsourcing companies that regularly hire for such companies.

Author note for you

Your job is to find an employer, whether as a skilled worker or an unskilled worker. Although for skilled workers the process of approaching top multinational companies is quite simple and straight, for non-skilled workers it’s somehow complicated to find the actual companies that are looking for people outside of Poland. So for odd jobs, just use Google to search and find employers or companies that are looking for staff and located in a particular side area in Poland. Once you reach out to them and get a job offer from them, you will probably get a visa if everything meets the requirements for a visa application.

The author’s second note about Work Permit

As the system in Polish immigration is changing, especially in Warsaw, they are going to make the application system online and more digital from 27 April 2026. That means before your employer just provided your hard copy of all the documents, including your work permit letter and other documents, and now they have to do it online through a digital way for you. so the point here for you to understand that if you approach any company for a job, whether they are offering you job in factory or you get some skilled job, they will do all your documents online and this will make your application process more efficient and smooth and the level of authenticity will also be higher in term of work permit or job offer letters and other related documents, e.g., Annex 1, etc.
